Along with his services in the above hospital, Dr. Agarwal also works from a private clinic replete with all modern equipment, located at Siddha Point, just opposite to the above referred Hospital. The clinic has separate waiting and consultation areas which allow enough space for patients to wait conveniently, maintaining safe distance. 

Being a specialized and well experienced physician, he offers a number of medical services and treatment for both Communicable Diseases like Viral Fever, Typhoid, etc and Non-Communicable Diseases like Diabetes, Hypertension, etc. A proponent of punctuality and with inherent traits towards perfection, Dr. Agarwal makes himself available and works round the clock for his patients. Needless to say, he also provides free treatment and free medicines to the needy. 

When it comes to his background, it is noteworthy that Dr. Agarwal’s initial education started in Nalbari and Rangia, Assam and finally, when he was in 8th standard, he came to Guwahati and continued further study. After his HSLC from Sri Guru Nanak High School, Guwahati, he got admitted to Arya Vidyapeeth College, Guwahati. In 1987, he joined Gauhati Medical College & Hospital (GMCH), Guwahati, from where he obtained the MBBS degree. He did his internship form Guwahati Medical College and Hospitals and Safdarjung Hospital (New Delhi). He also did residency in the Department of Cardiology and Department of Surgery from Safdarjung Hospital (New Delhi). 

After his graduation from GMCH and his residency from Safdarjung Hospital, he appeared for his Post Graduation examination  (All India basis) and went on to pursue post-graduation at Jaipur’s SMS College and Hospital. From 1999, he started his individual practice at Guwahati and in the year 2000 he started rendering his services at Marwari Hospitals, then Marwari Maternity Hospital.After joining Marwari Maternity Hospital, Dr. Agarwal conducted many new projects that drew fame for the Hospital. Dr. Agarwal gave his valuable inputs in establishing the ICU department in the hospital and was assigned the responsibilities of the ICU in-charge as well as Head of the Medicine department.

Throughout his professional career, Dr. Dinesh Agarwal has attended many conferences all over the world on various topics and sub-topics. Some of the conferences that he has attended so far are International IV Rajasthan Chapter Indian Society of Gastroenterology, held in the year 1999; International Symposium on Prudent use of Antibiotics, held at SMS Medical College, which was sponsored by Alliance for Prudent Use Of Antibiotics, Boston, as well as Continuing Medical Education Program organized by Indian College of Physicians, Royal College of Physicians, Edinburgh, London in 1997; Medicon-2006 (Forum for Physician) held at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 2006 and Medicon-2007 (Forum for Physician) held in Dubai in 2007, etc.

Dr. Agarwal’s organization of and participation in CME programs and workshops of conducting professional development programs or research methodology workshops as well as laboratory training workshops are in abundance. He gets himself involved in any activity which aims at providing academic excellence and professional enhancement. Just to name a few are: “Basal Insulin: Overcoming Barriers to Insulin Therapy” at AMSA House Barpeta on 5th June 2010 organized by Indian Medical Association (IMA), Barpeta Branch and North Eastern Diabetes Society (NEDS); “Management Of Type-2 Diabetes & Role Of Vildagliptin” at Residency Tourist Resort, Dispur on 30th September 2010; “AACE Guidelines: A Case-Based Approach” at Hotel KiranShree Guwahati held on 27th November 2010; “Gestational Diabetes Mellitus” organized in Bongaigaon on 28th April 2012 by Indian Medical Association (IMA).

Dr. Agarwal has also participated in the 1st Asia Pacific Congress on Controversies to Consensus in Diabetes, Obesity, and Hypertension (CODHy), held in June 2011 at Shanghai, China, and also in the 60th Annual Scientific Session & Expo and ACC`s Innovation in Intervention, organized on April 2011 in New Orleans, Louisiana, U.S.A.

He was Organizing secretary for Research Society for the study of Diabetes in India, Assam Chapter, held at Hotel Radisson Blu in 2017 and organizing treasurer of Annual conference of Northeastern Diabetes Society in 2013. He was also the Joint Secretary of the Annual Conference of Northeastern Diabetes Society in 2019.

To add to the list are programs like “Dyslipidaemia” organized at Marwari Hospital & Research Centre on 22nd April, 2013; “Management of Hyperglycemia in Special Population” on Spring Diabetes Update organized by North Eastern Diabetes Society (NEDS) at Hotel Gateway Grandeur on 5th May 2013; “Rombillyroxer: An “ACE” to Improve Adherence, Compliance, Effect” at Marwari Hospital & Research Centre on 9th July 2021; “Reteplex- A Novel Antithembolic’ held at Marwari Hospital & Research Centre on 7th September 2013; Vertigo-Dizziness master classes held at Marwari Hospital & Research Centre on 6th November 2013 and so on. He was present at the occasion aiming for a cause in ‘Re-exploring the role of BB in MI’ at Marwari Hospital & Research Centre. He was also there as a speaker on certified programs in clinical diabetology of Harvard Medical.

This is just a glimpse of his contributions and participation in various programs and research seminars held at different places. Other than these, he has engaged himself in innumerable conferences and career activities with an enthusiastic, dynamic spirit that enthralls one and all.

He has also been invited as a faculty in numerous National Annual Conferences, held at various locations, such as Hyderabad, Lucknow, Jaipur, Agartala, New Delhi, Ahmedabad, etc.

Dr. Agarwal also has a huge number of publications and research papers to his credit. These include “Delayed Reversible Myocardial Toxicity of Zinc Phosphide Poisoning”, “Corrosive Injury to The Upper Gastro-Intestinal Tract”, “Chronic Renal Failure & Hearing” published in various editions of the journal “Current Medical Trends”etc.. “Role of Diabetes Educator In Diabetic Care” in the journal Diabetes Update:-North Eastern Diabetes Society, and “Hypokalemic Quadriparesis: A Rare Manifestation of Dengue Fever” in the Assam Journal of Internal Medicine, official Journal of Association of Physicians of India, Assam Chapter, a recent publication in International Journal of Scientific Research regarding  Moyamoya Syndrome are just another few of his several scientific contributions.

He also has several research projects planned for the near future such as “Prevalence of Metabolic Syndrome and its predictors among college-going adolescents of Guwahati”.  

The selfless service that Dr. Agarwal has provided during the COVID 19 pandemic deserves special mention. During both the phases of COVID-19, he has been working in close vicinity of more than 2000 COVID 19 patients for their treatment, either during their home isolation period or during their stay in the COVID ward of Marwari Hospitals. He was one among the senior Consultants of the City, who took an active participation in treating patients with COVID- 19 complications, when many others were reluctant to face the wave.  His diligence and bravery has won him great popularity among the treated. He has recently started a YouTube channel named “Healthcare with Dr. Dinesh Agarwal”, which deals with awareness regarding various health issues like diabetes, obesity, etc and COVID- 19 and has already gained intense popularity.

All in all, Dr. Dinesh Agarwal is the embodiment of an inimitable, perfect human being with the right passion and dedication to make a difference!
